Transmission

By far, the most common mode of transmission for Bunyaviruses is through arthropods such as mosquitoes, sandflies, and ticks. Every genus except hantavirus is arthropod borne (ARBO). Hantaviruses are transmitted through contact with or inhalation of aerosolized rodent feces or urine.

Most viruses in the Bunyaviridae family are arthropod borne (ARBO).
Hantaviruses are the only genus in the family that are not ARBO viruses. They are ROBO (rodent-borne viruses).
