Ribavirin Brand Names: Copegus, Rebetol Occasion for Treatment: This drug is generally used for the treatment of pneumonia in young children. It is dispensed through oral inhalation. It is also commonly used for the treatment of hepatitis C. The active ingredients in ribavirin are interferon alpha and PEGinterferon. Both of these agents assist a host in killing cells that are infected with virus. Drug-Drug Interactions: Ribavirin should not be used concurrently with Didanosine, Stavudine or Zidovudine Common Side Effects: Chest pain, wheezing, dizziness, fatigue, difficulty breathing, indigestion, loss of appetite, insomnia |
