Stanford Youth Cultural Exchange Initiative:
We are a community service group aimed at fostering a cross-cultural awareness of children and youth, especially special-need groups such as international adoptees and immigrants. We believe in the vitality of multiculturalism in addressing the common problems facing human beings today. Young people are the foundation of a strong global society. As such, we encourage Stanford students to make a difference in the local and global community by serving children in need and exchanging their perspectives with children and youth from other cultures.
Our typical activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
--Playgroup activities: arts and crafts events with cultural components;
--Language and culture exchange sessions: correspondence program with local secondary and elementary schools;
--Special guest-speaker series;
--Service to local communities with children or youth;
--Art exhibition and performances/talent show for participants;
--Collaboration with off-campus organizations and schools to build up partnership and expand our scope of activities.
This year, we are working to expand our range of activities and would love any help from both within and outside of the Stanford community! Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in participating.
