1. Rohan Kamath is a birder, photographer and Stanford University alumnus (Ms) Class of 2013. He took most of the photographs in our Species Accounts.

2. Tom Grey is a birder, photographer and Stanford University emeritus law professor. His work can be seen on his website--which includes 516 species--and on his PBase site, where he posts photographs that might help people identify birds. He took quite a few of the photographs in our Species Accounts.

3. Northern California artist, Barbara Banthien, painted Scrabble, which is featured on the " More" link. In 2014 she was awarded Best in Show, Louisiana State University International Exhibition on Animals in Art. You can see examples of her work on the Featured Artist link and on her website.

Utah artist, Carel Pieter Brest van Kempen painted the Violet-green Swallow, which is featured on the Homepage and the "Walks and Maps" link. He is a Master Member of the Society of Animal Artists. 5. Northern California artist, Andrew Denman , painted Minerva, which is featured on the " Species" link. He is an internationally recognized contemporary wildlife artist, whose most recent awards include 1st Place for Richeson 75 International Animals, Birds, & Wildlife Art Competition in 2014 and 2015. You can see examples of his work on the Featured Artist link and on his website.
6. Maryland artist, Terry Miller drew The Contenders, which is featured on the "Essays" link page. He is a Master Wildlife Artist of the prestigious Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, which also hosted a solo exhibition of his works entitled, 'Unknown Bridges'. 7. In 1987-88 Shanid Nameen illustrated The Birder's Handbook, the source of the species coverage and essays in this website while working on his Ph.D. in zoology from the University of California, Berkeley. Today he is Director of Science at at Columbia University's Earth Institute Center for Environmental Sustainability (EICES) in New York.

8. Bruce Finocchio is a wildlife, nature, and scenic photographer living in Millbrae, CA. His work has been published in California Wild Magazine where he won the best wildlife image photo contest in 2003 for theAllen's Hummingbird included in our Gallery. You can see examples of Bruce's work on his website.

9. Darryl Wheye is a writer, artist, birder, curator and CEO of a tiny NGO, Science Art-Nature. Her bird and butterfly work can be seen on the Birds of Stanford link. She posted the initial version of this website in 2000, and this update in 2016. She can be reached for comments or help with the website here.
