Old Oak with Downy Woodpeckers
11.5 x 21" (Framed 18.5 x 28"), Acrylic painting on board
Live Oak, Downy Woodpeckers.

Science Art note: In winter, male and female Downy Woodpeckers forage for insects separately, with males preferring small branches and weed stems, and females preferring larger branches and trunks. So, if this wonderful painting portrays a winter scene, we have a clue that the male (on the right) is probably not about to probe for larvae below the bark.
