BREEDING:

Mature coniferous forest. ? broods.

NEST:

On horizontal branch; compact, deep, of weed stems, pine needles, fine twigs, lichen, lined with soft, fine materials.

EGGS:

Creamy white, finely flecked with browns, usu wreathed. 0.6" (17 mm).

DIET:

Largely or entirely insects during nesting.

CONSERVATION:

Winters s to nc Nicaragua. Rare cowbird host.

NOTES:

Spends most of the time actively foraging high in trees; males tend to forage higher than females. Incubating female is a "tight sitter" on nest. Occ hybridizes with Townsend's Warbler.
