Species via color of Head; Facial, or
Shoulders Marks |
Members
of the Stanford community who come to the
University from distant regions, and individuals
new to birding may come across campus species they
do not know by name. Especially
when a sighting occurs on the spur of the moment or
without the benefit of binoculars this color guide
may help narrow the range of possibilities.
Given
that many distinguishing marks are located
elsewhere on the body, this guide may provide few
clues. Each image, however, is linked to text
providing basic information about the biology of
the bird which may help verify the species until
access to a traditional field guide is
available. |
