Spotlighting the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in this work and its protection from destruction and acknowledgement as an important site for archeological as well as anthropological study, I’ve tried to portray the site as an abstract form, highlighting its structure with light and shadow and adding just the right amount of movement with the trio of mourning doves.
Science Art-Nature: The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, in Coolidge, Arizona, preserves a number of Hohokam structures situated within a compound wall. There is some evidence suggesting that the four-story main structure, the "Casa Grande" could have been abandoned by the mid-1400s. Its roof was added in 1932, but the original caliche structure has withstood 700 years of extreme weather. |
