In recent years, the number of Madagascan bat species known to science has increased nearly 50 percent with new species being discovered as recently as 2007. Bats are the
last group of land mammals on the island that have not been extensively studied, and
very little is known about their way of life and conservation status. Madagascar
has more endemic species than any other place of similar size in the world and, to
this day, scientists who travel to the island can discover things that have never
been seen before.
Science Art-Nature: If you might be able to identify this species, the artist will be happy to send you a study photo.
As far as know, there might be only three megachiropteran species on Madagascar, and we're leaning toward Rousettus madagascariensis.
