This is a double portrait of Sable the chimp in the foreground drawing in a magazine and in the background looking into a picture with the image of Darwin looking back. The underlying idea of this image is that anthropocentric notions of the world are unenlightened and antiquated, that it's time for us to wake up, and that religious belief systems corrupt if not distort reality. We must see ourselves as part of nature, not separate from it! Darwin’s Origin of Species points us in the right direction. With the help of science, we can learn how to cooperate with nature, and temper our inclination to dominate and exploit it!
