As an artist, my eye was caught by the repetition of curved shapes between the rocks, the water and the otters. As a naturalist, I was intrigued by the causal linkages between those repeating forms. My intent with the composition was to allude to deeper natural relationships beneath the otherwise hopefully alluring scene. Particularly, an expanded, extreme and slightly tweaked example of convergent evolution, or homoplasy employing evolution on the one hand and erosion on the other; where the rocks are formed by eons of moving water and the River Otters are formed by eons of moving through water.
