Binary stars, or two-star systems excite awe and wonder: massive stars which are close enough no doubt influence each other, and probably have a symbiotic relationship, affecting one another's evolution--cosmic analogs of living symbionts on Earth. The painting depicts a set of such binary stars--one with warmer colours, and the other a cooler companion. Would these two bodies remain united by the bond of their mutual gravitation towards each other? Would one consume the other? Would they be progenitors of other stars?
