LE GALLERIE selected as finalist by ABITARE in its OSSIGENO ITALIANO innovative design competition

Le Gallerie has been selected as one of the finalists for Abitare's Ossigeno Italiano 2009 design competition: an innovative design competion run by the noted architecture and design review based in Milan.

Le Gallerie will thus be published along with the other finalists in the December issue of Abitare. Three of the finalists will be featured at the 2010 Milan international Salone del Mobile, the world's leading design showcase.

As in 2008, the 2009 edition of Le Gallerie is directed by Jeffrey Schnapp and realized in partnership with Elisabetta Terragni (Studio Terragni), FilmWork (Trento), and Gruppe Gut (Bolzano). It again involves the repurposing of two abandoned highway tunnels in Trento, Italy, and their transformation into a 6000 square meter experimental regional history museum and lab. The title of the 2009 edition is ABC DEL TRENTINO. It contains several major new features, including the installation of two urban teaching gardens, one to the south and the other to the north of the tunnel entrances.
