SCRL's Community Solar Program a Success

Our Community Solar Program offered through SolarCity of Foster City was a resounding success! We not only met the 175kW threshold---we exceeded it. Although the final count of participants is not in, latest figures show 41 families participating with 193kW contracted as of the close date of September 28, 2007. Thus, our community will offset at least 3.85 million tons of Carbon over the next 30 years.

Having met the threshold, all participants were eligible for the final discount price of $7.90/watt, 15-20% below market rates.

Significantly, our small community of about 800 homes outdid a number of neighboring, much larger communities who also were running community solar programs. Several of these communities did not meet the vendor's threshold for the final discount.

From the SolarCity Community Program webpage:

San Jose 188 kW
Los Altos/Los Altos Hills 116 kW
Berkeley/Rockridge/Temescal 137 kW

It was a pleasure for SCRL to bring this program to the community and see it so enthusiastically embraced. Please let us know how SCRL can continue to serve our community.

Thank You.

For those of you who missed out on the time-limited community solar project, remember that excellent state rebates and competitive pricing still exist in the market place.
If you've been meaning to take a look at photovoltaic solar for your home, one place to start is the SCRL website, www.stanford.edu/group/scrl under PROJECTS.
