As the only Stanford-based group dedicated to salsa, Los Salseros brings this exuberant and sensual dance to the Stanford campus and San Francisco Bay Area. We seek to entertain, teach, and spread our love for salsa through our performances, workshops, and dance parties.
We’d rather you come out and dance with us rather than sit there reading this on your computer screen, so watch or join us at the events you see on this page, or contact us for further information.
If you want to see all of the members of Los Salseros past and present, check out this page.
Come check us out at one of the many events on (or off) campus. Be warned; you’ll get hooked!
Approximately twice a month, we hold salsa socials on campus. These are a chance for everyone to come dance with us and meet other salseros in the Stanford area. Generally, socials are on Saturdays from 9pm to 12am and are held in campus buildings with wood dance floors. Check the calendar and our email list for announcements.
Before every salsa social we have a one hour beginner lesson. These are for absolute beginners as well as novice dancers with a few months experience. We also have a progressive workshop series in the winter quarter for six weeks at both beginning and advanced beginning levels.
People often assume they should advance to the “next level” quickly, but we encourage you to focus on the fundamentals, especially at the beginning! Don’t rush yourself into learning “that crazy looking move” you saw on YouTube. Make sure you have a strong sense of timing and musicality and are able to execute the foundation moves cleanly, on time, and with lots of style. Do this and you will learn faster than others with a “get rich quick” mentality.
