Development of a MRI Compatible Spinal Compression Harness

Investigator: Charles G. Burgar, MD

Project Staff: James H. Anderson, JEM

Summary: The MRI Spinal Compression Harness may be useful in space to mitigate back pain due to spinal lengthening and on Earth to simulate upright spinal loading during horizontal imaging. The purpose of this project is to design and develop prototypes and a pre-commercial version of the MRI Spinal Compression Harness for use in diagnosing lower back pain and other musculoskeletal disorders under simulated loading conditions.

Findings: New project.
