Summary: Muscle weakness is an important aspect of post-stroke hemiplegia. This project investigates the neural component of muscle weakness in hemiplegia by studying motor-unit recruitment and firing-rate modulation in hemiplegic subjects. A better understanding of muscle weakness will enable us to develop more effective strategies for stroke rehabilitation.
