Stanford vs. St. Mary's

On January 31st, 2009, Stanford traveled across the Bay to Moraga to face St. Mary's. The Cardinal came out firing, driving in the first 3 minutes deep into St. Mary's territory. Number eight Johnny McCormick then kicked a successful drop goal after a St. Mary's penalty. St. Mary's responded with two successive tries, but Stanford answered with scores from flanker Josiah Hall and fullback Charlie Hazlehurst, making the score 15-14. Unfortunately, this would be the last time Stanford held the lead. Though fighting hard for the rest of the game, Stanford eventually lost 66-20. Stanford's last try came from outside center Stephen Brown in the 76th minute. Despite the recent tough losses, Stanford is prepared to rebound as the team enters into the second half of league play.
