Assassins Rules of Engagement

I. ASSASSINATION

In this game, you are expected to assassinate your current target within 72 hours or face possible termination. For an assassination attempt to be successful, the following conditions must be satisfied:

  1. The assassination must NOT be visibly witnessed by any LDSSA member other than the assassin and the target (even if the witness is not participating in the game).
    • It counts as "visibly witnessing" the assassination if someone sees the water gun at the instant the trigger is pulled OR if someone sees the water as it travels through the air.
  2. The water must hit the target, or any piece of the target's clothing.
  3. The assassin must use a standard-issue water gun, which will be distributed to assassins before the start of the game.
  4. The target must have one or both feet outside of the following SAFE ZONES:
    • Your own dorm room
    • The Institute (Chapel)
    • Old Union—3rd Floor (CIRCLE)
    • Casa Zapata Lounge (Friday Forum)
  5. It is prohibited to use physical force to remove an assassin from a safe zone.
  6. It is prohibited to take an assassin's gun when the assassin is touching it.
  7. The assassination must not occur during, or within 5 minutes before or after, a LDSSA event or church meeting.
  8. The assassin must not be neutralized when the assassination occurs.  An assassin may be neutralized by shooting them before they shoot you.  Neutralization last for exactly one hour.

When you have successfully assassinated your target, find out who their target was, then both you AND the target you eliminated must report the kill by emailing ldssa.assassins@gmail.com in the following form:

Assassin <your name>: Killed <victim name>, next target: <target 1>

(ie Bob Rawle: Killed Frido Martinez, next target Mark Linsenmeyer)

or if you died...

Victim <your name>: Killed by <name>, previous target: <target 2>

(ie Victim Frido Martinez: Killed by Bob Rawle, pervious target Mark Linsenmeyer)

If time permits provide an interesting story about how you managed to outwit your opponent.

II. TERMINATION

Once you die, you become a terminator.  You can then kill anybody who is currently on the termination list, and neutralization and safe zones no longer apply to you.

If you fail to assassinate your target within 72 hours after your target was assigned, your name will be passed on to one of the elite invincible super-soaking commandos known as TERMINATORS.  All water-based attack methods are legal by terminators. You will not be warned if a Terminator has been assigned to you. Terminators cannot be neutralized, and they can shoot you with any type of water gun, even in front of witnesses.

TERMINATORS MAY GET YOU ANYWHERE...YOU ARE NOT SAFE IF YOU ARE TO BE TERMINATED. YOU MAY EVEN BE SHOWERED!!!

Table III.1a : Conditions under which you may be terminated

Why the Terminators are After You

How to Save Yourself from Termination

You failed to assassinate your target within 72 hours after the game started or since your last kill.

Assassinate your target ASAP.

You failed to report your kill immediately (i.e., your target reported the kill before you)

Report your kill ASAP.

You attempted to neutralize a large number of people to avoid assassination.

Beg for mercy.

Assassins who have been eliminated from the game may be enlisted to become terminators.

When only two assassins remain, the terminators will be called off.

III. AUTO-TERMINATION-WITH-PREJUDICE

Assassins who do not assassinate their target within 72 hours will be automatically removed from the game.

IV. ENDGAME

When only two assassins remain in the game, they will be assigned each other as targets. These assassins are automatically immune from termination and auto-termination.

The standard assassination and neutralization rules continue to apply, with one exception: If both assassins shoot each other at the same time (or cannot come to an agreement as to who was hit first), they are both neutralized. Ties are not allowed.
