Small Groups '09-10

Bible Studies
Fellowship
Bonding
Games

Small groups are one of the most important aspects of IVGrad. Weekly get togethers in more laid back settings can help build the strongest friendships you'll have at Stanford. Engage each other in your faith, learn more about Christ, and encourage each other as you make your way through graduate school.

Developing Christian Character

Mondays 7-9pm (52 Dudley Ln, Apt 105)

We believe that God's plan for us is a heart transplant - trading the old life for the new, the selfish for the selfless. Together, we will study Scripture that focuses on developing the characteristics and attitude that God wants us to have, and we'll focus on applying these principles in the context of a strong community with one another.

Contact Esther (epierce@), Scott (sshsieh@) or Isaac (ipenny@).

The Bereans

Tuesdays, 7pm. (EV 21-103)

"...they [the Bereans] received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." - Acts 17:11

We will study apologetics by discussing common objections to Christianity, evidence of the existence of God, and arguments for the validity of the Bible.

Contact Kassa (kassahun@), Brianna (bcardiff@) or Heather (hstalker@)

Men's Prayer Group

Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30pm. (Old Union)

A time for men to call on God, listen to God, and pray for each other. Contact Pete Sommer! First meeting will be at the fountain out front of old union.

Culture and Creation

Wednesdays, 7:30-9:30pm (Lyman Atrium)

First Meeting Oct 7th. Have you been thinking about your place in the world? Do you wonder about how to engage with the society around you? Do you sit in awe at God's creation and ponder over how to respond to a calling to follow up on that creation? Check out our small group!

We'll be doing a book study on Culture Making by Andy Crouch. Andy's currently a senior fellow at the International Justice Mission's IJM Institute and in his book deals with the issues of confronting the culture around us by creating more culture. Join us as we use the book to delve more deeply into the Bible's defining creation moments and encourage one another in our personal callings towards creation.

Contact Peter (plee82), Matt (mattlee) or Jennifer.

Internationals Bible Study

Thursdays, 6:30pm. (Common Room, Old Union 3rd Floor)

We are a group of International Students who share the desire to serve the Lord's Kingdom by building authentic relationships among each other and with the community around us. We come together every Thursdays to share our life, reflect on the Biblical truth focusing on relationships, personal and spiritual growth. We would like to be a warm and welcoming community for all the International Students both for the believers and the seekers. Come join us to be a part of this family, "a home away from your home" and share in our Fun, Faith and Fellowship.
