I was interested in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid-Structure Interaction. I
worked on an adaptive time-stepping strategy for hyperbolic problems to achieve an accurate solution at low computational cost.
The size of a global and constant time-step is driven by the necessity of capturing fast transitions with high fidelity. However, such a time-step could be too small for significant
portions of the simulation and therefore could be chosen larger without compromising the overall accuracy. I developed an error estimation approach to detect the need
for a decreased time-step during the computation when needed.
