Course catalogue description:- Applied Physics Core course appropriate for graduate students and advanced undergraduate students with prior knowledge of elementary quantum mechanics. Introduction to materials and topics of current interest. Topics include superconductivity, magnetism, density waves, frustration, classical and quantum phase transitions, multiferroics, 2D and van de Waals materials, topological insulators, and interfaces. Prerequisite elementary course in quantum mechanics. Co-taught with Y. Suzuki Units: 4 Grading Basis: Letter or Credit/No Credit Winter 2023 Class times: MW 1:30 - 3:30 |
