- We are going through a rolling upgrade of the systems, and the software is quite a bit newer on the new ones, so double-check what machine you're on.
Which machines are in the pool now?
You can get the list of servers participating in a given load-balanced pool with:
dig +short +noedns -t txt <pool>.best.stanford.edu @lbdns1.stanford.edu
E.g.
[chekh@luckdragon.stanford.edu] ~ [0] $ date; dig +short +noedns -t txt corn.best.stanford.edu @lbdns1.stanford.edu Wed Mar 14 14:57:42 PDT 2012 ;; Warning: Message parser reports malformed message packet. ;; Truncated, retrying in TCP mode. " 162990/1.000 corn02.stanford.edu" " 163740/1.000 corn05.stanford.edu" " 165060/1.000 corn07.stanford.edu" " 167340/1.000 corn19.stanford.edu" " 168930/1.000 corn11.stanford.edu" " 169050/1.000 corn28.stanford.edu" " 169650/1.000 corn15.stanford.edu" " 175680/1.000 corn25.stanford.edu" " 178110/1.000 corn27.stanford.edu" " 178410/1.000 corn12.stanford.edu" " 178500/1.000 corn24.stanford.edu" " 184470/1.000 corn10.stanford.edu" " 192240/1.000 corn06.stanford.edu" " 192390/1.000 corn13.stanford.edu" " 195540/1.000 corn09.stanford.edu" " 195930/1.000 corn04.stanford.edu" " 206370/1.000 corn20.stanford.edu" " 211110/1.000 corn21.stanford.edu" " 265710/1.000 corn26.stanford.edu" " 269910/1.000 corn18.stanford.edu"
You can do the same with 'cardinal', but not with 'barley', since you can't log in to barley directly.
If the above dig command doesn't produce any output, you can leave off the last argument. e.g.
dig -t txt corn.best.stanford.edu
