Fahmida has served as Sustainability Specialist at UC Berkeley since 2006, managing the California Climate Action Partnership and other campus sustainability programs. She completed her Master's in Public Environmental Management with a focus on climate change policy from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management in UC Santa Barbara. For the Campus Climate Neutral project at UCSB, she led the team in identifying UCSB decision processes, implementation paths, emissions inventory, relationships with UCOP, the very first Green Initiative Fund for UCSB, as well as various emissions reduction mechanisms.
Fahmida earned a B.A. in Economics from Smith College. Prior to attending the Bren School, Fahmida worked for the Bay Conservation and Development Commission as a legislative analyst, Siebel Systems as a marketing manager, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) as a research analyst for the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in the Energy Analysis and Technologies Division.
Fahmida oversees the Sustainability Working Teams program we recently launched; chairs the working teams and manages our day-to-day programs for sustainability Communications and Community Relations, Green Funding, and Economy; assists in the development and implementation of a campus greenhouse gas reduction plan; and holds other responsibilities as the campus sustainable operations initiative evolves through initial organization and program development to direct work on new operational improvements.
