  1. Officer retreat at Armand's: Resources/Events Brainstorm (Heather)
  2. GSC Funding
    • mystery $5k!!! - Max to find out what's the deal
    • requested: 2 speaker events per quarter at $200 each ($1,200 total for speakers. Nice work team!)
  3. Publicity: Face boodk Group is up and running! nice work Yash!
    • also buttons and tee shirts are being considered
    • we should have a contest for the tee-shirts!
    • it may be hard to fund the winner of the contest, maybe we can do a prize of some kind
    • tee-shirt vendors? century graphics, Stanford Store
    • newsletter, Yash is going to put together something each week on Thursday ->
      • we can hold off on large numbers of emails and do a once a week update
      • Yash to send out a test newsletter in the next day or two
    • for the events next week, do we need publicity -> it needs to be posted on Grad Events
  4. environmental leaders meeting:
    • presentations by all the staff
    • two ways to ask for fund:
      • Green Fund and
      • Woods Institute for the environment (requires collaboration) and must apply to the whole group
    • Grace to check look up example of the earlier Woods Funding applications
    • other potentials might be field trips and workshops
    • first deadline is Oct 15th (Cathy is organizing - needs to set a date?)
      • we probably need at least a month to plan -> maybe mid to late november depending on days of week, availability etc.

  1. General meeting: Tues, oct14th, 6pm Tee shirts, sign ups for water comp, interest on projects (facebook)?
  2. Sara can get food? Yes, and we have ~$200 for food
    • Job is excited to meet with students, he will give a short talk
    • before his talk we could give a quick set of announcements
    • UC Davis started the water competition (they are jealous of the concrete canoe)
      • wastewater, stormwater, etc.
      • form teams, each teams are given a pollutant they have to remove with a set budget (~$100)
      • last year a team from Cal won it
      • Julia is interested in putting together a team
        • she wants some incentive for joining a team, winter qtr is organizing, spring is when it starts
    • she's waiting to hear back on specific dates
    • Green fund may be a good source for funding for this

Projects

  1. Input for fellowships: meeting with Jeff Hawthorne (Sarah)
    • issues are how Haas fellowships are structured, and they want us to publicize their fellowships
    • options seem open and numerous on how to partner with them
  2. SARAR projects update
    • we have some options about which project we most want to work
  3. GHI project status
    • Heather has a draft of the project, they are waiting to hear about funding
  4. Haas Service Learning Proposal + Prof. Greg Deierlein
    • could be seed money for the class ($1,500 to $5,000)
    • he would be willing to be listed as the instructor for the class
    • we need to draft a proposal then go over it with Greg
    • Heather also spoke with Ali, and she warned against listing him as the Prof. for the classes going forward
    • TA is funded from the CEE department, the rest is a mix of other sources
