SSECG - Environmental Consulting

A representative from Stanford Students Environmental Consulting Group SSECG)gave a presentation about potential opportunities to work with ESW. SSECG is an undergraduate organization that finds ways for businesses and organizations to improve their profits by acting in an environmentally friendly way.

Students get placed into positions relating to consulting, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and research. We can explore opportunities to collaborate, possibly on the design of products to be implemented in the developing world (partnering with SOIL on the design of composting toilets, for example), or projects at Stanford involving design (possibly tying into certain workshops, etc). We'll need to think about possible overlaps to take advantage of this opportunity.

SSECG meets on Sunday at 2pm at MeyerFlex Lab (2nd floor (of Meyer?)), it might be good to check it out.

We want to get our hands on a cheap diesel engine to demonstrate the biodiesel. If anybody knows where to get one (a lawn mower or single cylinder leaf blower), help is much appreciated!

Other Issues

We won't be presenting a Roosevelt Policy Brief because Adam is too swamped.

Next Weekend, we'll try to arrange an evening dinner for the officers. It will give us a chance to discuss in a less pressured environment where we want the class to go, assess the workshop, and hopefully find a way for us to find a Director of Fundraising. That position is far too important to our finances to leave unfilled.

Class

Sasha didn't get the PFIIS grant, and we haven't heard from Molly's Nepal contact Mihir. Heather has some ideas for the course, and we can contact Ron Sawyer about the possibility of an Ecosan project in Mexico.

We could also give a series of workshops in place of a class. Each of us would be responsible for one or two topics, would have a number of weeks to prepare, and the catering and overall organization would be arranged for each week to cut down on overall effort. This workshop shows the interest is there, and we have plenty ideas for workshops as long as we can as a group handle the large logistics burden.
