Strategic Advisor K-12 Lab
The resistant artist in elementary school turned hot graphic designer straight out of art school, Sandy believes that everyone is a designer and if we could only teach this deeply in schools, the world would be a better place. When not at the podium spreading the religion of design thinking and what it could do to address systemic challenge in education, she works at IDEO as one of the leaders of the Transformation practice. There she helps clients use the tools and methods of design to work in new ways, to address challenges of the future, and to affect change in their organizations. It’s not the easiest job to explain to the stranger sitting next to you on a plane, but hey, 10 years ago it was pretty rare for a fellow traveler to understand the role of the graphic designer.
An all around great asset in the d.school community she helps the K-12 Lab think about their sphere of influence and opens doors of possibility. In her spare time she collects Mona Lisa kitsch, teaches meditation, and worries about the color of her floor boards.
