K-12 Lab

Maureen Carroll has a passion for learning. In the middle of raising three sons and going to graduate school she thought it would be a great idea to start a curriculum design company, and hasn’t looked back since. One of her favorite projects introduced her to design thinking, and because she wanted to learn more, she came to Stanford to take a K-12 class. This led to doing research at the d.school on implementing design thinking in schools. She is thrilled to be working at the d.school, where it feels like home: crazy ideas, fun, lots of noise and faith in chaos.

After spending 11 years in California, Maureen and her husband returned to the east coast for two very long years, and are planning to never return to icy cold winters again. When she is not working, Maureen tries to spend as much time as possible in her favorite place, the ocean. She has applied the d.school idea of learning from spectacular failure to two new things this past year- trying to surf and trying to golf. So far, the iterations must continue.
