Mission

CITS's mission is the development of a high-fidelity computational framework for the simulation of turbulent thermo-fluid systems involving a variety of physical phenomena and geometrically complex configurations. The simulations environment is based on multiple, integrated codes that address specific physical aspects, such as detailed turbulence dynamics, multiphase interface tracking, combustion, etc. Strong emphasis is given to the development of efficient and scalable numerical algorithms for the ASC parallel computational platforms.

A complementary goal is the development of streaming supercomputer hardware and supporting software and algorithms; streaming represents the next generation of high performance scientific computing as demonstrated by the recent industrial interest.

From the goal educational point of view, the Center aims at producing graduate students and post doctoral scholars who will carry the products of this research industry, national laboratories, and academia.
