Pluripotent stem cells are promising cell sources for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. However, due to the lack of understanding of a complex, multifunctional cell niche, it is difficult to optimize the niche to direct the stem cell differentiation into functional, mature cell types. Through working at the interface of biology, materials science and engineering, and medicine, Soah’s goal is to develop novel 3D combinatorial systems to help understand how the complex interplay of the niche signals influences stem cell fate in 3D and to rapidly optimize stem cell niche using high-throughput strategies.
