Bio-X,
in collaboration with Stanford University Schools
and Departments, support state-of-the-art core
shared facilities. These facilities are hallmarks
of Stanford Bio-X, the purpose of which
is to foster communication campus wide amongst
the various disciplines in biosciences, biomedicine
and bioengineering. Core facilities are available
to the Stanford research community.
In February
2000, the Bio-X Core Facilities Committee announced
a call for proposals for a new $7M program, funded by
a generous donation by James H. Clark. Stanford faculty
submitted proposals for matching grants to upgrade or
construct new bioresearch laboratories in existing buildings
throughout the campus. Seventeen grants were awarded
in May 2000. In the spirit of Bio-X, grants were awarded to faculty
and staff from such diverse departments as psychology,
chemistry, physics, mechanical engineering and genetics.
