Masha Lipman is one of the founders and Deputy Editor-In-Chief of Itogi,
a premier Russian news magazine published in cooperation with Newsweek.After
graduating the State University of Moscow with a degree in linguistics (1974), she worked
as a free-lance translator, interpreter, and journalist. In the late 1980s and ealry 1990s
she worked for the Moscow Bureau of The Washington Post.
Her writings on Russian politics appear frequently in Itogi, Newsweek, and
other Russian and American periodicals including, most recently The New Yorker.
At the conference, Masha Lipman will serve as a the conference commentator-at large.
