Viticulture and Oenology SeminarFRENLANG 60DAbout the ClassNumber of Students: 50 registered Stanford students both undergraduate and graduate. Venue: The French House, 610 Mayfield Avenue, Stanford University (Please see directions below) Time: Thursdays, 7:00 pm. Description: The Viticulture and Oenology Seminar (“Stanford Wine Class”) exposes the Stanford student community to the foundational art and science of wine and wine culture. The class features a host of renowned guest speakers from the wine industry in northern California who share their expertise on viticulture and oenology. Each class features a tasting of 4-6 wines of the speaker’s choice to complement the lecture. The class also includes a trip to Napa or Sonoma during the quarter. Regular speakers in the class included noted winemakers, winery owners, sommeliers and other folks with a passion for the subject! Format: Speakers usually come with 4-6 varietals (four-five bottles of each), which they include in the theme of their talk. For example, a speaker talking specifically about sparkling wines may come with five different varietals for the students to taste during the seminar.
