Call for Assistive Technology Faire Participants

This event - scheduled for Thursday, February 17th - will provide an opportunity for students and community members to get an up-close look at a variety of assistive technology devices and learn about available services.

Users of assistive technology products as well as small companies and agencies serving individuals with disabilities and older adults are encouraged to bring assistive technology devices to display, demonstrate, and discuss.

Tables and power will be provided for participants in the Lathrop Library classroom during the scheduled class time. A large sheltered open space outside the classroom will also be available to demonstrate mobility devices.

How to Register

If you are a vendor of assistive technology products or supply assistive technology services and would like to participate, please contact me and submit the following information for the Faire webpage:

  • Name of the assistive technology device(s) or service(s)
  • A suitable photo or logo representing the device or service
  • Name of company or service provider along with webpage url
  • Name(s) of individual participating in the Faire
  • A short description of the device or service including what it is, what it does, who it benefits, and any special features.

  • Refer to Classroom Location and Accessibilty Information for driving directions, finding & paying for parking, and locating the classroom.
  • Plan to arrive on campus anytime between 3:00 and 3:45pm and stay until 6pm.
  • You can drop off any equipment at the Littlefield Center on Lasuen St., then find parking.
  • Parking in "A" or "C" spaces before 4pm is NOT free and requires payment.
  • Procede to the second floor of Lathrop Library by the stairs or the accessible ramp and elevator.
  • Set up on one of the tables (4 by 7 feet) in Classroom 282. There are plenty of power outlets, but bring your own extension cords.
  • You may use one of the several large roll-around video monitors in the classroom, but bring your own laptop video adapters.
  • Vendors with mobility devices may set up on the patio outside the classroom.
  • Be prepared to provide demonstrations of the device or explain the features of the service.
  • Be ready to answer questions about the device or service: the problem it addresses, who would benefit from its use, why the device or service is superior to other commercial products or services, specifics of the design/development process pursued for the device, and any marketing information.
  • Encourage students and community members to try the device.
  • Anticipate cool weather, so dress warmly if you plan to demonstrate a mobility device outside the classroom.

Please note that this is meant to be an educational event rather than an opportunity for sales.
