Previously proposed techniques for the analysis of delay and probability of underflow for adaptive playout schemes either assume that packet interarrival times are random and there are no errors and retransmissions, or that packets arrived at fixed times but with random errors bursts. Since we extend these treatments in section 3 we first review them here.
