About Us

Individuals in grieving often struggle to cope with their emotions and loss of a loved one.

Superbloom is an app that allows for grieving individuals to dull their pain and take control of their emotions by memorializing and remembering their loved ones. By actively sharing those they’ve lost, as well as interacting with others’ losses, users become united together in grief and memoriam. Our app allows users too...

  • plant their private and public garden, where each flower is a piece of memory
  • see and interact with friends' gardens
  • host superblooms, which are dedicaed memorial events that others can collaborate on

Process

Needfinding

We started by interviewing people to explore general mental health concerns. We uncovered the pains and needs of a wide range of participants

Experience Prototypes

We narrowed our problem scope through additonal needfinding, "How Might We," and "Point of View" statements. Followed by three experience prototype testing.

Concept Video

We defined our app's simple, medium, and complex tasks and demonstrated them via a concept video. We also conducted market research and ethical considerations.

Low-Fi Prototype

We created the first iteration of our UI through paper prototypes. Then we tested the usability of our UI with participants who have experienced loss of a loved one.

Medium-Fi Prototype

We then revised our UI based on user feedback and then created a medium-fidelity prototyoe using Figma. We also defined our style guide and mood board.

High-Fi Prototype

We finally put it all together and developed a high-fidelity prototype using React Native, JS. Visual components were designed using Figma and imported into the project.

Heuristic Evaluation

Fellow CS147 students conducted a heuristic evaluation on our medium-fidelity prototype. We compiled all of our feedback and organized it by task and heuristic violation.

Poster, Pitch, Demo

We presented our final project poster and pitch at the CS 147 Expo and created a demo video to showcase our app.

Final Report

We synthesized our entire process into a final report here.
