Optimizing Energy Usage in Google Datacenters

Taliver Heath, Google

Bio

Taliver Heath received his PhD in Computer Science in 2007, after completing a tour in the Navy as a Nuclear Power Instructor. He has been working in the Platforms group in Google since 2005, where he has been managing various power and facility automation teams, as well as designing systems to increase Google's operating efficiency.

Abstract

Datacenters are expensive, and we'd like to amortize the cost over as many machines as possible. This requires determining how to use all of the available power delivery capacity present in a datacenter. This talk will detail the rationale and methods behind achieving this goal.
