Robin's Instructions for setting up the Eudora Internet Suite on your Palm OS device
Note1 - before doing this, check your date and time - if they are not correct your email will not work
Note2 - these instructions will work using AT&T Wireless or WiFi
Download the Eudora Internet Suite

Install (if you need assistance installing, check here on the PalmOne site)
- On the PDA
- Eudora
- SSL/TLS Security Library
- EudoraWeb for browsing, if you'd like (tho the one on the Palm seems better)
- On the PC
- If you want to control your email on a PC, you can install Eudora conduits (don't do this if you don't want your PDA to control your email or if you don't use Eudora on your desktop - what this does is sync your Palm Eudora with your desktop Eudora
Setup
- Tap Eudora (in the menu screen) to launch it.
- First screen that pops up is the Account Creation Wizard
- Tap " Go directly to Advanced"
- Give the account a descriptive name (like Stanford)
- Tap OK
- There are four tabs at the top of the screen. Following is the information you need for each setting, under each tab.
- Basic Tab
- Return address: sunetid@stanford.edu
- Username: sunetid
- Incoming: sunetid.pobox.stanford.edu
- Outgoing: smtp-roam.stanford.edu
- Receive Tab
- Your choice Empty Trash before check will keep the data on the Palm more manageable
- Server Deleting Options
nothing should be selected
- Send Tab
- Real Name: Your own name, of course
- Auto Bcc: Sunetid@stanford.edu (if you'd like to keep copies of your outgoing mail)
- Default domain: stanford.edu
- Signature: This is where you choose your primary signature (if you create any)
- Send immediate: Your choice - do you want to wait between each message as they send or do you want to wait to the end then send them all?
- Security tab
- Incoming (POP)
- Save Password: Check it if you don't wish to type it each time -
note: if you ever lose your Palm, get online somewhere and change your password
- Authentication: Plain (USER)
- Security (SSL): Alternate Port
- Outgoing (SMTP)
- Authentication: Best Available
- Authentication: Same As Incoming
- Security (SSL): Alternate Port (If Available and SSL Required has also worked on some units)
- Tap OK
- Set up more accounts if you need them by tapping the "new" button
If you've set up more than one account, choose the account you want for your default from which you want to send messages (you can change it to another account when you send the message by clicking on it in the message)
- Tap Done
Check mail & send a message
- Under Menu, check your mail and/or send a test message
- Tap trust this certificate when the question pops on the screen
- First time you send mail you'll have to set your time zone
