Louise Brooks is one of the most famous silent film stars today, but she was hardly known in her own time. She had a minor career in largely unrewarding roles in the United States, and her breathtaking performances in her European films were hardly seen outside the continent. Louise Brooks had a troubled career and troubled life, but she has had the last laugh.
